Dr. Nevin Berglund, founder of
Berglund
Animal
Hospital, graduated from
Ohio
State
Veterinary
School in 1952. In 1954, Dr. Berglund stood across the street from the vacant lot on the corner of
Old Orchard Road
and Gross Point Road and envisioned a small animal hospital. This dream became a reality on
January 31, 1954, when ground was broken and construction of the animal hospital began. Dr. Berglund actually helped with much of the construction of this hospital, including the installation of the animal cages and painting the interior of the building.
Berglund
Animal
Hospital opened its doors on
June 14, 1955. It was from that day forth that Berglund Animal Hospital would serve the community and provide animal's a high level of medical care and attention. It was his insight and dedication to veterinary medicine that has brought Berglund Animal Hospital to where it is today - a three veterinarian, full-service facility offering the most progressive and up-to-date treatment for pets throughout Evanston and surrounding communities. In 1997, Dr Amy Perille purchased the practice. In 2001, Dr. Mark Howes joined the practice and bought the practice from Dr. Perille in 2005.

Berglund
Animal
Hospital is among the 12 percent of animal care facilities in the nation certified by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). AAHA is the world's leading association of small animal practitioners. To achieve AAHA distinction, our hospital passed comprehensive inspections of our veterinary practice, management, facilities and medical equipment. To keep up with the growing wealth of knowledge in veterinary care, our veterinarians and support staff participate in continuing education and training on a regular basis. We will continue to meet AAHA's rigid standards to provide the highest quality medical and surgical care.
